Light Up the Night at Gottfried!
Join us for our FREE annual Luminary Hike—a magical evening of glowing trails, prairie stories, warm drinks, popcorn, and s’mores around the fire. All ages are welcome!
As the sun goes down, the prairie takes on a whole new personality. Follow the luminary-lit trails on a self-guided hike through the arboretum and along the prairie edge. Along the way, meet some of our fun and unexpected storytellers—including a squirrel, a tree, and even scat!—and hear their short, entertaining stories about life in nature.
Warm Up Around the Fire
After your hike, cozy up by the fire with a cup of Grog (cider & cranberry juice) or regular cider, and enjoy some freshly popped popcorn.
Make your evening even sweeter with our NEW Gourmet S’mores Bar! Roast your marshmallow over the fire and create your own delicious combination using graham crackers, cookies, and a variety of tasty fillings.
Bring a chair, gather around the fire, and stay awhile!
Donations are encouraged to support environmental education programs at Gottfried Prairie & Arboretum.
Where to Start
Please begin your adventure at the Gottfried Shelter, located at the east parking lot adjacent to the Fond du Lac County campus.
Trail note: The hike follows a gravel trail and grass. Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable footwear.
